About Me

Although I say I am Manager of Intentional Serendipity, my real title is Manager, Digital Age Learning with the YMCA of Greater Toronto. ;-)

I have taught (and learned with) kids and teachers for 40 years and was a founding teacher at the YMCA Academy a secondary school serving youth who prefer an alternative approach. Recently I have become a Co-Leader in the Canadian community and have also served as an Experienced Voice for the PLP Network. I’ve been involved in technology supported, project-based learning since the late 1970s and am particularly interested in encouraging learner agency, passion, motivation and cognitive intent. I serve on the Board of Directors of iEARN-Canada, The Educational Computing Organization of Ontario, and am global ambassador with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). The Ontario Teachers Federation has me supporting both face-to-face and online learning. The Minds On Media model of professional learning is something that I am proud of co-creating. I blog at The Construction Zone and love rock-climbing, motorcycles, mountains, oceans…yeah, adventures even at my age!!
