Power to the People: Distributed Leadership as a Pathway to Change
Distributed leadership is one of those terms that gets thrown around a great deal but is rarely deeply enacted at the school or classroom level. At its root, distributed leadership can create both a more democratic and innovative environment. And by both deepening institutional buy-in and increasing creativity and innovation, a thoughtful implementation of distributed leadership can powerfully transform school communities.
This workshop is an opportunity for participants to examine how their school / classroom space can embody a more empowering ethic in their communities through distributed leadership while considering the structural and intellectual shifts that must happen to effect the change.
Conversational Practice
Participants will examine the larger ideas of distributed leadership in group conversation and then create a plan to move their schools to a more distributed model.
